Employment Opportunities

UpLand Grading & Septic, LLC is growing and we are seeking motivated candidates to meet our staffing needs!

Heavy Equipment Operator - This job is to use a track-loader and/or excavator to carry out the various material-handling and excavation tasks of our diverse (and often steep-terrain) projects. We are looking for someone who is skilled enough to follow a work plan without constant supervision and who communicates well enough to coordinate efficiently and respectfully with the worksite manager and crew. We are a small, good-natured group working on fun grading projects in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country!

Job Requirements:

  • Employment experience and confidence operating a skid steer and/or mini excavator

  • Candidates with experience operating farm or other heavy equipment will be considered

  • Team-player attitude and listening/communication skills

  • Attention to details and quality of work; we don’t do work that is just OK

  • Eventually, you will need the ability to work autonomously for several hours and direct any support crew

  • Reliable and flexible transportation; within Madison County and surrounding areas

  • Ability and desire to work 40-hour weeks (weather dependent)

  • Must be willing and able to sometimes get out of the machine and do manual work (shoveling, chainsaw, raking, lifting up to 80 lbs, assisting another operator, etc.)

  • Willingness and discipline to properly maintain equipment (greasing, re-fueling, checking fluids, cleaning air filter, adjusting loose tracks, etc.)

  • We expect our crew to be courteous and professional when around our clients

  • Experience using a laser-level to follow a grade is a plus

  • CDL-A or B and manual transmission certificate are pluses (and potential for additional CDL work)

Pay/Benefits:

  • Starting pay is $25/hour for a 1-month trial period

  • After 1-month you may be eligible for a raise based on your skill level

  • Worker’s compensation insurance coverage

  • As a growing company, we are working toward offering health insurance and paid time off (grow with us)

Ground Crew Member - This job is to support our equipment operators as needed. You may be tasked with: using a chainsaw to remove tree branches or cut logs, changing equipment attachments, assembling plumbing parts, shoveling, raking a nice finish on freshly spread gravel, hooking or strapping materials to equipment, stacking smaller retaining walls or many other similar tasks. Part-time position to start. Some days will be exhausting, other times you may be observing, cleaning up or waiting for an operator to need you. We are a small, good-natured group working on fun grading projects in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country!

Job Requirements:

  • A positive attitude and work ethic

  • Part-time to start, dependent on weather

  • Willingness to work outside in sunny, hot, freezing cold and sometimes wet conditions

  • Reliable and flexible transportation within Madison County and surrounding areas

  • Employment experience in construction, grading, paving, landscaping, farming, forestry or other physical work environment

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 80 lbs; this is not very common but some days are tough

  • Situational awareness and listening skills; this can be a dangerous job for someone lacking in these attributes as you will sometimes be working with hazardous equipment and/or in close proximity to the machines

  • Endangerment to self or others by the inappropriate use of smartphones while working is not tolerated

  • We hope to find someone with a desire to learn and grow within the company

  • Mechanical experience is a plus

  • After 1-month you may be eligible for a raise based on your performance
